LET AMIT Y BE THE STAR<\/span><\/p>\n

In the beginning of the International Amity Short <\/span>Film Festival, we set out to remind ourselves and the <\/span>world of the concept of friendship that is the soul of <\/span>Anatolia. We said, in the words of great master Fethi <\/span>Gemuhluo\u011flu, we should be a friend to ourselves, <\/span>our geography, our histor y, our neighbors, nature <\/span>and all the friendship must be told. We received an <\/span>answer to our call from all over our countr y and all <\/span>over the world. As we were getting ready to carr y out <\/span>the second year of the festival, receiving more than <\/span>1500 films from total of 100 countries in two years <\/span>filled us with hope, made us happy, and increased <\/span>our responsibility. We think that our current goal <\/span>should be to work hard in order to spread our festival <\/span>activities, film screenings, interviews, workshops <\/span>and activities made in the name of art and friendship <\/span>throughout the year.<\/span>We are in an age in which people\u2019s kindliness toward <\/span>one another is diminished and humanity sacrificed <\/span>itself with man-made technologies and systems. We <\/span>are facing a structure that is reduced to producing <\/span>more and consuming more, isolated in crowds, and <\/span>alienated to its nature for the sake of survival of the <\/span>dominant system. A new type of enslavement is <\/span>gaining wide currency, in which crowds are dictated <\/span>about what to do based on examined, observed, and <\/span>archived information about themselves, in return <\/span>they are convinced to believe that they are liberalized. <\/span>While a small minority live in extravagance, masses <\/span>suffer from hunger. We live in an age, while the <\/span>number of those suffer from injustice and oppression <\/span>are growing swiftly and oppressors successfully <\/span>display a simulation game that they distribute <\/span>justice. Climate, nature, and balance is deteriorating. <\/span>Unfortunately, the contemporar y ambitions of the <\/span>human being are destroying many living things <\/span>instead of being friendly to nature. As the festival, we <\/span>wish to remind humanity that human beings are also a <\/span>living species. <\/span>In this age in which we experience the dominancy <\/span>of conflict, oppression, alienation, isolation, <\/span>deterritorialization, and marginalization; we will <\/span>continue to invite the humanity to friendship -which <\/span>is the essence of Anatolia- to oneself, to one\u2019s <\/span>neighbors, and to all the troubled distant lands. We <\/span>remember the histor y of Anatolia that embraced <\/span>all differences based on gender, race, religion, and <\/span>language and saved many such as Spanish Jews or <\/span>White Russians by extending a friendly hand. By doing <\/span>so, people who survived by taking refuge in Anatolia <\/span>showed the masses as an example. We would like the <\/span>entire world to meet in this essence for the sake of <\/span>humanity. <\/span>For this second year of festival, which we dedicated <\/span>to \u00c2\u015f\u0131k Veysel, who established an excellent amity <\/span>with the entire humanity through his music and prose, <\/span>I would like to thank to all friends who are short film <\/span>makers from all over the world that responded to our <\/span>call, to the efforts of the festival team that worked <\/span>day and night to reach this stunning result. I would <\/span>like to express my gratitude to the biggest friend of <\/span>the international community, Turkish Red Crescent <\/span>and its president Kerem K\u0131n\u0131k, the Mayor of Beyo\u011flu <\/span>Mr. Haydar Ali Y\u0131ld\u0131z, the Mayor of Zeytinburnu <\/span>Mr. \u00d6mer Ar\u0131soy and all the other institutions and <\/span>organizations that support us. A good future can only <\/span>be built with friendship. Friendship is a value of the <\/span>entire humanity. Let\u2019s watch together these exciting <\/span>outcomes that put toward friendship at the festival. <\/span>With sincerely hoping to meet friends in front a white <\/span>screen..<\/span><\/p>\n
