Murat Tırpan was born in 1975 in Izmir. He studied Turkish Philology and Cinema-TV. He worked as an academician in the Cinema-TV departments of different universities such as Ege University, İzmir University of Economics, Muğla University, and Doğuş University. After publishing academic articles and organizing film workshops, he became a movie critic. A member of the Turkish Film Critics Association (SİYAD), Tırpan has written and continues to write film reviews in periodicals such as Altyazı, Twilight, Cumhuriyet, Yeni Sinema, Ayrıntı, Psikeart, Episode, Bavul. He also regularly writes articles for Birgün newspaper and continues his academic career as the Head of the Cinema-TV Department at the Okan University Faculty of Fine Arts.
