
Tarık Tufan was born in Istanbul and lived his life in this city. After graduating from Kabataş High School for Boys, he completed his university education in the Department of Philosophy at Istanbul University Faculty of Literature. He completed his master’s degree in Sociology at Marmara University Institute of Middle Eastern Countries.
For many years, he has made programs in the field of culture and arts on radio and television.
His first book “Choir of Stuttering Children” was published in 2000. “The Queen’s Fleas” (2002), ‘And You Become a Bird’ (2004), ‘Hayal Meyal’ (2007), ‘A Man Entered the City Running’ (2010), ‘Şanzelize Wedding Hall’ (2015), ‘Don’t Give Me to Them’ (2017), ‘Düşerken’ (2018), Kaybolan (2020), Geç Kalan (2021), Âşıklara Yer Yok (2023) were published.
In addition to his novels, he continues to write documentary and fiction movie scripts.
He won the “Best Screenplay” award at the Istanbul Film Festival in 2009 for “Uzak İhtimal” and at the Adana Golden Boll Film Festival in 2013 for “Yozgat Blues”. The film “Anons”, which he co-produced, was awarded the “Special Jury Prize” in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival in 2018.
His writings have been translated into various languages.
His stories are published in literary magazines.
