Prof. Dr. Nazlı Eda Noyan (Izmir, 1974) earned her BA and MFA degrees in graphic design on scholarship from Dokuz Eylül University, Bilkent University and University of Florida. Worked as an intern designer in UNICEF, Ghana. Received her Ph.D. degree from Istanbul Technical University with her thesis on film title design in Turkish cinema. She’s the founder head of Cartoon and Animation Department in Faculty of Communications and founder director of Communication Design MFA program in Bahçeşehir University, Istanbul.
She is the writer and designer of 13 children’s book. She has also directed animated films such as “The Children of the Other Lands” (Best Animation Film Award, Istanbul Short Film Fest, 2006) and “A Cup of Turkish Coffee” (FR, TR co-production, supported by ARTE and CNC. Best Short Film Awards at 51st Golden Orange FF and 59th Valladolid Meeting Point 2013; mentioned in “New Contexts and Voices” chapter of A New History of Animation written by Maureen Furniss (Thames & Hudson, 2016). She is currently working on two animated film projects, one of which is a feature animation “ Sisters’ Tale” and an experimental animation “A Tender Dream” and produces a TV program called Animation Camp for TRT EBA.
She is the director of Istanbul Animation Festival Animist and founder of Girl Saw The Sea productions as well as animasyonunkadinlari.org – an archive project for women of animation in Turkey. She lives in Istanbul with her two daughters and film director husband.
