After crossing the English channel illegally with his family, asylum seeker Abdel Hassan is brought to an interrogation room to be interviewed by case worker Oliver. Abdel is given the tragic news that his wife and sons drowned when their boat capsized during the crossing. He wishes to see them, but Oliver won’t let him until he’s answered a few questions. After complying, Abdel is informed that he will be charged for the deaths of his family as the Home Office wishes to make an example of him and deter others from attempting such a risk. He is then returned to his cell to await trial.

One day, he gets a call from his friend, Ha-yeong. “I have a job for you. There a one old man who is blind and deaf. He is just waiting for his dying day. Your job is acting like his son and eating dinner with him. It’s for 100 dollars for a day. I’ll send you some details.” Jong-in decides to eat dinner with Ra-him as his fake-son.

When he finds his brother’s last tooth, he remembers a promise to toss it into the sea, a place he is not, allowed to go. He decides to honor his brother’s wish, even if it means risking his life.

Yacoub works in the statistics department in a hospital. He answers the calls of the victim families who are asking about missing persons during the war. Occasionally, he gets resentful about a telephone conversation that raises suspicion and anxiety in him.

The film follows Nour, a young woman wandering the streets of Stockholm who realizes she has lost something important. Retracing her steps, she hears her sister’s voice recounting their life in Gaza with their brother Shady and grandmother. The narrative shifts to the horrors of war in Gaza, leading to the tragic news that Shady has been killed. Nour found what she had been searching for: her phone, which she had accidentally thrown away.

After his recovery, middle-aged Hamza continuously repeats a habit he began 20 years ago when he was released from Israeli prison: He ventures into the woods to chase the lion that villagers don’t believe exists. Hamza struggles to reach a peaceful place. Despite his wife’s begging and the villagers’ reprehension against him, Hamza sits his baits and traps in the forest, striving for victory over the illusive threat. He finds refuge in his journey from social rejection and denial. In the woods, Hamza is free to act according to his beliefs, fighting his own battle to heal an open wound – the trauma of losing his childhood friend, and the horrific memories of torture and guilt.

An acrylic painting was created with the help Rad Dar, centering on the Palestinian flag. The flag, composed of red, white, black, and green colors, has been overlaid with the blue and white colors of the Israeli flag. The colors have spread across the surface like bombs, blending together to create a blurred effect on the flag. These fluid and dynamic colors have rendered the flag unrecognizable, revealing various textures. This visual composition is accompanied by the poem ‘I Am You’ by Palestinian poet Refaat Alareer.

The documentary tells the story of Emma’s inspiring life in Sarılar village, where she lives with Mehmet and their eight children. It focuses on the ‘deep connection’ she has developed with nature while living in a Turkish village.

While spending their days together, their relationship is also put to the test.
