6. International Amity Film Festival
Applications for the 6th International Friendship Short Film Festival have started. This year the festival will be held ‘In Honor of the Friendly Country Palestine’. Filmmakers will be able to apply to the festival through ‘filmfreeway’ and ‘festhome’ platforms until August 23 with their short films that directly or indirectly deal with the subject of friendship in accordance with the main theme.
The festival, which is held every year in memory of a friend of the heart, poet and artist who immortalizes friendship in his/her works, will take place in Taksim-Beyoğlu between October 3-6 this year in memory of Palestinian Poet Mahmoud Derviş.
In its sixth year, the festival will host nearly a hundred films and filmmakers from all over the world in the ‘Main Competition’, ‘Forty Years of Remembrance’ and ‘Humanitarian Perspective-Palestine’ sections. Filmmakers can apply to the festival until August 23 for the Main Competition section with short films that directly or indirectly deal with friendship in accordance with the main theme, and for the ‘Humanitarian View-Palestine’ competition section with films about the Occupation and Independence of Palestine.
TURKISH PRODUCTIONS AND PALESTINE-THEMED FILMS WILL APPLY FREE OF CHARGE
Filmmakers will be able to apply to the competition sections of the festival via filmfreeway and festhome platforms. In addition to Turkish films, as every year, no application fee will be charged for Palestine-themed productions that will participate in the ‘Humanitarian Overview’ section, which focuses on the occupation and independence of Palestine this year.
PROGRAM TO BE ANNOUNCED IN SEPTEMBER 2024
The awards, jury, selected films and events of the International Friendship Short Film Festival, which will take place in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, will be shared with the public at a press conference in September 2024.
CONDITIONS
MAIN COMPETITION
All fiction, animation and experimental short films made on or after 01.01.2022 that directly or indirectly point to the concept of ‘Friendship’ will be eligible to participate in the ‘Main Competition’ section. The duration of the films will be under 20 minutes including credits and English subtitles.
HUMANITARIAN EYE- PHILISTINE
This year, all short films and documentaries that address the themes of occupation, nakba-disaster, independence, diaspora, etc. experienced by Palestinians can apply for the ‘Humanitarian Perspective’ section. Films shot on or after 01.01.2013 will be eligible for this section free of charge. Films must be under 30 minutes including credits and have English subtitles.
FORTY YEARS OF GRATITUDE
Documentary, experimental, video-art and fiction short films that do not comply with the Main Competition regulations and that directly or indirectly point to the concept of friendship will be evaluated in the ‘Forty Years of Remembrance’ section. The duration of the films will be under 30 minutes with English subtitles. There will be no limit on the production year of the films that will apply for these categories.
